Joyce P. Daniels

Joyce Porter Daniels of Chattanooga succumbed to the infirmities of old age on Aug 10, 2020, just 8 days shy of her 94th birthday. Born August 18, 1926 in Macon, GA, Joyce was the daughter of Tiny Shropshire Porter and James Clifford Porter. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Horry Wesley Daniels, who passed 26 years-to-the day-prior, on August 9, 1994, and her brother, Dallas C (Buddy) Porter of Decatur, GA. She is survived by her son, Paul Daniels and his partner Marcia Depp of Melbourne, FL, , grandson Jordan Daniels of Melbourne, nephew Tim Herring of New Port Richey, FL, nephew Rick Herring of Augusta, GA, niece Jane Herring Moody of Milledgeville, GA, nephew Jay Porter of Woodstock, GA, several grand-nieces and nephews, and many close friends, notably Doris Price and Jennifer Petty, who were by her side when she peacefully passed. Joyce moved to Chattanooga shortly after WWII, where she and Horry made their home until their deaths. Joyce was a member of East Ridge Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, and she served as Church secretary for many years in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. In the early 1970’s, Joyce owned and operated the antique store, “Yesterday’s Treasures” on Ringgold Rd. until retirement. In retirement, Joyce and Horry divided their time between Sun City Center, FL and Chattanooga, before returning permanently to Chattanooga in 1990.

A private graveside service will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery at a suitable future date, once the pandemic is better controlled. Joyce would encourage memorial gifts may be made to your favorite charity, as there are many in need during these trying times.
